There’s nothing cuter than a little one in rollers. Especially rag rollers, but for me, the classic pink foam rollers give to best results. The problem with the pink rollers is the plastic clips that make them hard to sleep in, which is what makes rags so great. So I put the two together, and now have my favorite foam rag rollers. They make the best two day curls, with no little kinky ends that just the rag can make, and are super comfy to wear.
They are so easy to make, catch me after the jump!
How To Make Foam Rag Rollers
In writing this post I realized I should have taken some pictures of how to use rollers to get the best results. See those little papers? That’s my secret! I’ll make up another post for that, and in the meantime you can make a set. Here’s how to do it:
- Pink foam rollers – Sally Beauty Supply is a great resource, or even amazon has them.
- scrap fabric, old pillowcase or something you can cut up
- scissors, or wooden dowel
Take your scrap fabric and cut into 1½ x 12 inch strips.
Then take all the plastic clip inserts out of the foam.
For this part there are two ways you can go about it. You can use a small wooden dowel to push the fabric up through the center, or simply cut length wise up the roller as shown in photo. I have done both and I would say if you plan on using the rollers a lot, thread the fabric through the center. If you will only be using them occasionally, the slit will work great.
Then take add the fabric by either threading through or folding into the slit. That’s it! My kind of project :).
Then roll ‘em up before bed and they’ll sleep like a baby waking up to sleek bouncy curls that last all day.
How about you, do you remember sleeping in rags or rollers? Any pictures? I am glad I took these, I never thought to do it before but their little faces look so cute with rollers in!
