Diy Jute Letters

by Suzanne on July 12, 2010

I bought these letters for my son’s room a while back and wasn’t sure how I would decorate them, then it came to me – why not glue on jute string and hang them on his door?  I like that it has a natural look to it with some texture, yet still is not girly. And if we change the style of his room (which it desperately needs) they should fit in with just about any theme. They are super easy!

Jute Letters For Kids Room

Supplies:

  • wood or chip board letters
  • jute string
  • glue gun

I started from the outside and glue in around the edges it was pretty simple the E got a little crazy but lucky for me jute is pretty forgiving. :)

I’m really not finished yet, I thought I might sew a denim banner and glue them to it then hang on the door.  What do you think?  Any ideas?  They would even look good on a shelf….hmmm.

What a perfect way to add some texture! So often you see wood hanging on a wall, or on a shelf and all the elements are hard and shiny. Awesome idea! I think it would look great in one big letter too.

Ideas….what if you hung them with jute on the wall? maybe too much?

You are so smart. I like that it makes it look more man-ly for a boys room. As far as ideas, Maybe put on a magnet board or put a large frame around it on the wall.

oooh, I’ve missed you guys. So many ideas – I love this cos boys, well they just seem to get a bum deal with all the arts and crafts around. May be, just maybe sometime before Christmas I will try these for my two wee chaps. New house, new rooms, new name on door – how they grow so fast.
mar-vel- lous!
