Yesterday I posted about sewing Velcro on your car seat straps, don’t do it! I did update the post but I wanted to make sure those of you in RSS feed and email were notified.
Ater a reader suggestion (thanks Sara!), I did a little research and the verdict is don’t sew on your car seat straps. After reading the reasoning it makes complete sense. The needle punctures holes in the threads thus compromising the straps. Bummer. A few websites said it was safe to use a ball point needle as this does not puncture the threads, but nobody would confirm the safety of this at home. So here is me saying just buy a Britax if you want Velcro straps. Or use the really strong sticky Velcro, but honestly I don’t think that will last long! Sorry!

A pin hole is not going to compromise a web strapping. If worried, use Gorilla glue or something like that.
Thanks for the update.
AMEN!!! Good grief, it’s amazing we all survived childhood without all this valuable knowledge our mother’s didn’t have. I say sew the darn velcro on! Did you know that sunlight and heat will also compromise the integrity of fibers? Yep, it does, look it up!!!
If you are worried about compromising the straps, look for velcro that is long enough to wrap completely around the strap without bunching up the strap & just sew the velcro (loop side) to itself.
Awesome idea. I think even just sewing the velcro to a piece that you loop around the strap would work. Thanks Laura!
Yeah, it would work that way!
I love my Britax…I just wish Britax would have put the velcro on my Fisher Price Safe Voyage!
Wish I would have bought a Britax
