Fascinator Hair Clips

by Destri on July 14, 2011

Hey friends!  Things have been busy busy.  Better than bored I suppose :).  I have had all sorts of house guests, all of which have humored me in late night crafting marathons, which is always good fun.  It has had me thinking I need to host a craft night, they sound like so much fun!  Have any of you hosted one?  Any tips?

We were lucky enough to have Aubrey and her cute family here for a night.  You should see her baby bump, it’s the cutest.  She is one of those that looks as though she has a beach ball stuffed under her shirt.  I can’t believe I didn’t get a picture.  Aside from signing her up for pinterest (addicts enjoy company :)), we had some fun making hair fascinators.  I kept saying that word all night, it’s a fun one.  Anyhoo, here are a couple we came up with.

Handmade Hair Clip Flower Fascinator

I made this one to match Eleni’s Pillow Case Dress

And Aubrey made this one to match the Twirling Skirt I made for her little one. Aren’t they fun?  They are kind of addicting.  Like, let’s see how many variations I can make in a night, addicting.

It was so fun to see her twirling and skipping around in her skirt, I think she liked it! It’s always the best to see that they like something you’ve made.  I might have even talked Aubrey into digging out her sewing machine, wahoo!

I have a post coming up with how to make the folded flower that Sara asked for from the fun handmade flowers post.  Would anyone like me to add how to make these hair clips in the tutorial with it?  Let me know!  I never know if everyone has had enough of one thing or another, so it is always nice to get some feedback :).

Hope you are all having a good week, see you soon with a tutorial!

We do a cousin craft night with my husbands female siblings and cousins every couple of months. They are so much fun. the little kids go off and play, and we craft the night away with a different project each time. We usually serve some kind of dinner, then start the craft and chat for the next two hours.

Go for it, you will have a blast:)

So cute! I think my little boy would be annoyed if I made him one but perhaps a gift for some of his girlie friends…. hmm.
And in regards the craft party, I host one every year at Christmas. My biggest tip would be plan it slowly over a few months so that you can test your craft, get supplies, do up the invite etc without feeling rushed. It’s a lot more time consuming than say a dinner party because you have so many little stops to make and pre-planning to do. But so worth it. I just put a post up the other day about my Christmas craft night so that might help with a few ideas. Good luck! :)

Oh my goodness! Yes please!
I’m throwing a bridal shower in August and the bride requested an english tea party theme and one of the things we are going to do is make facinators for every guest to wear! I’ve been looking at tutorials on how to make them but I’d love to see how you did it! So fun!

then you must have scones with whipped cream (I love the twist on the scone idea with the blueberries) and tiny sandwiches made with the crusts cut off and served on a tiered cake stand and end up with individual tiny cakes and pastries…..oooh, I’d love to bake for you…..and tea served in bone china tea cups with saucers and strawberries and, and, and….have the most amazing time:O)

hee hee I hope its gonna be fun! Fake british accents are expected all ’round! (I’m sure we’ll all need to re-watch Bridget Jones for the millionth time to practice before the shower!) For food I’m doing everything in mini…mini cupcakes, lil cake pops, mini cookies….she wanted a sweet theme for the food so its all desserts with a couple different types of iced teas!

This is the 1st time I’ve looked out to this site. I am so happy I stumbled onto such a creative group that does not make you spend a fortune and credit themselves for your ideas. Thank you for some really cute ideas!
