Getting Back To “Normal”

by aubrey on September 24, 2011

Hey, I’m back!  I thought I would introduce you to my sweet babe.  She’s 3½ weeks old already..sniff.   Why is there not a pause button?  I swear we have a fast forward, it would be nice if we at least had a slow-mo option.  We haven’t been out much, trying to keep her from everything out there, but after a trip to my hubby’s work and having everyone love on her, and she survived…I figured it’s time to get back to life.

I have to  confess I’m addicted to couponing.  There is nothing like getting a bag full of goodies for next to nothing. After going through one of my favorite websites, Hip2Save and seeing all the deals for the week, I knew I had to get out.  I spent Monday gathering and printing coupons and coming up with a game plan to get all my errands done with my 2 1/2 year old and 3 week old.  Whew…I was geared up for a rough day.

My journey began by dropping my Kindergartner off at school at 7:45 am.  I then took some dishes to my wonderful friends that brought us dinner when the baby was first born (so grateful for them!).  Next I headed to the dry cleaners to drop off my husbands work clothes.  Wendy’s was next on the list to pick up the Halloween coupon booklets.  The booklets cost $1.00 and they have five coupons for a free Jr. Frosty, that’s a Jr. Frosty for $.2o!!  Oh no friends, I’m not handing them out to trick-or-treaters.  All 50 of them will stay in my car for when I need a treat!  I suppose I will share them with my girls as well. ;-)

Target was my next stop and where all of my couponing work was going to come into play.  I got some awesome deals, but the best one I have to share is getting two Toy Story 3 operation game for $1 each!  Yes, you heard right, $1!  They were normally $17.99.  If you want to find out how I got this deal, go here.

Then we went to Office Depot to make a bunch of copies for a project I was working on.  By the time we were finished there, it was about time to nurse the baby and let a 2 year old run around.  Chick-fil-A was next to Office Depot, perfect – they have the best playlands!  Since it was 10:00 am I figured I could have a yogurt while I nursed and my 2 year old played.  When I got up to the counter I realized that a yogurt is the same price as a regular peach shake; I stalled, I debated, I asked the lady at the counter if it was too early for ice cream.  She looked at me funny (no sense of humor…) so I took the plunge and got a shake instead.  It had milk and peaches, a perfect morning snack right?  Oh and it was delicious!

After enjoying my shake more than I dare share, :-)   and nursing we made our last stop at WalMart to get two more Operation games and some other items.  We made it home by 11:30, just in time for lunch and naps, which we ALL took!

Oh, but my day doesn’t end there; I then made 6 loaves of bread and bread sticks for dinner.  I felt like Super Woman!  Don’t worry though, it was just “that” day…the next day I accomplished nothing.  I need these days, just to remind me that I am capable of accomplishing so much in a day.  I guess everyday can’t be that good or we wouldn’t be so excited when we have such a productive day.  With a new baby in the house, it feels all the more victorious.

How about you, do you have a certain routine that makes your life feel “back to normal” after a new baby?

Hope everyone is having a great weekend,

*Aubrey*

Oh those cheeks! I love those days. It seems like after a new baby everything feels a bit foggy, and getting back into the swing of things kind of wakes everything back up, brings me to my senses.
I so wish I was diligent enough to coupon, I have tried, but failed miserably!
I have to say though, that steal on the games has me thinking I need to give it another go :)

Oh, Aubrey! She is so beautiful and sweet….just like your older girls. I still remember thinking that Kaylee was one of the most beautiful babies I had ever seen. Mazie certainly looks like the rest of them. Congratulations to your sweet family! Hang in there! I just took it a day at a time when I had my babies. I usually could either shower or brush my teeth but never both the same day. Craziness but it’s all worth it! :)

This is the second time I have heard the name “Mazie” this weekend for a little girl and I love it! My daughter plays soccer with a little firecracker named Mazie and she’s so cute. When my third child was born, I got really exhausted staying home. We still tried to have errand running days–they kept life moving.

Aubrey,
Mazie is adorable, I can’t wait to meet her in person. Wow, sounds like a very productive day to say the least. Hope you give yourself plenty of time to rest because you will surely need it to fully recover. Have fun with her and give the girls a big squeeze from me and my family!
