How To Easily Print Patterns, Tutorials, Recipes And More

by Destri on September 29, 2011

Hey friends, happy Thursday.  We’ve almost made it to the weekend!  I have some things I’ve been working on behind the scenes that are giving me butterflies and keeping me up at night.  Good stuff, FUN stuff…can’t wait to show and tell you kind of stuff.  Even as I type I am getting excited just talking about it.  Don’t you love that feeling?  There is still much work to be done, but I will fill you in as soon as I can!  Just know that you are a part of it :) .

Before I go, I did want to show you a fabulous website I stumbled upon, Print Friendly.  Read: Super User Friendly!  You take the url from any page plug it into their little toolbar, hit preview.  From there you can decide what you want left out (introduction, ads), how big you want the font, take out pictures – basically print only what you want how you want it.  It saves on paper and ink.  You can even save it in PDF format to your computer.  They have a video to show you how it works, but really it is so easy.

I get emails and comments all the time saying “I wish you offered this in PDF format” or “I just printed this tutorial and it took 30 pages because of all the (lovely) comments!”.  I hear you, and believe me, I get it.  I haven’t yet figured out how I am going to offer our content, but it is in the works.  In the meantime, check out Print Friendly, I have used it all week and love it.

You can even take a little button of theirs and drag it to your tool bar, so that when you are on a page you want to print from – you just click it!  Simple Simon.

If you have a blog, they offer a plugin to add a print option to your posts.  I haven’t looked into it much, but worth looking into.

I will be back with a sneak peak later, see you soon!

Thanks so much for the printer friendly site, I love it!! Sent the link around to everyone I know, or at least to those who are not computer savy, like me. I have often wanted to print insutructions or a picture, but didn’t want six pages of stuff I did not need, now I don’t have to. Thanks again.

Sounds like a great site! I just usually select how many pages I want to print in my little printer box before printing. You don’t have to print all of the unnecessary pages that way.

That is how I do it as well, I tried to explain that to those that didn’t want the comments :) . This service lets you actually take out blocks of text, images, ads and stuff like that, pretty cool!

Wow, thank you for this post — I can’t stop using Printfriendly — I save a lot of articles to read later, and now I can turn them into PDFs, wipe out all the nonessential information on the page, and have a clean document to read! You have made my day!

I have never heard of this. Thank you so much. I can already think of a bunch of ways to use this. Nothing to do with blogging, either. All for my own selfish needs. ;) Thanks again!

Brilliant! Thanks so much for that Destri, I’ve downloaded the WP plugin and installed it on my blog, as well as sliding the button onto my browser toolbar. Very useful tip!
