It’s more than a Scarf-It’s an Accessory

by Kate on October 14, 2009

Kates Fabulous FindsBefore we get on with the scarves, I thought I would take a moment to introduce this segment and what I hope you will gain from it.  We all know that girl, the one who seems to find the most unique gifts, the one who walks in the room with jeans and a T-shirt on and still somehow pulls off an Über chic look because of the cool accessory adorning her neck.  Yes we all know that girl, she always manages to find the great deals, the perfect gift, and usually we think in the back of our minds that we wish we could pull that off.  Well, you can and I am going to help you.  I am Kate. Nice to meet you.  I look forward to seeing you every Thursday, you can even come in your jammies!

Scarves…

I could show you all sorts of so so scarves, but that wouldn’t be any fun, or fabulous.  When beginning my search for the most fabulous scarves, I tried to keep in mind that scarves are an accessory as much as they are a tool.  So with that in mind, shall we see what I have found?  Yes, lets.

  1. So really what is there to say, other then Fab.U.lous.  This little lovely is brought to you from OliveRue.  It is handmade in Georgia and carries a sweet little price tag of only $29.00, yep, you read that right ladies $29, also the shipping is free in the US.  The flower is removable, and I could see it tied around the waist making an equally stunning statement.
  2. Now this one is a little tricky, but worn the right way, instant style.  And yes, you can pull that look off.  Everyone will wish they could when they see you rockin’ it, trust me.   It was handmade in Turkey by denizgunes, and is $45 with free shipping anywhere.
  3. Ok so when I saw this little number it was love at first sight.  We all know that ruffles are “the” look this season, and this would be a great way to update a style from yesteryear.  This  beauty can be found at  Ebruk, and for $69 and $10 shipping to the US it could be adorning your neck in time for winter.
  4. On the Silvia66 shop they say this “Urban chic lariat” will make a fashion statement, and I believe them.  Why? Well… it was made in Italy that’s why, and it was made with someone’s two hands in Italy, so yes I believe them.  For $68 you can make a fashion statement, and purchase the rights to tell your friends it came from Italy when they ask where you got it.  You know they’ll ask.  Ships to the US for $7.
  5. She’s a beauty, I know, and she’s handmade, even better.  Katsara Yarns is the shop bringing us this piece, and it’s so pretty, you could frame it.  I recommend wearing it and you can for $78 and less then $5 for shipping in the US.  You can thank me later.
  6. Simple and sweet, that’s what I thought when I saw this little cowl from econica.  Even sweeter is the $22 price and $7 shipping from Canada.
  7. I love this neck collar.  It would make a t-shirt look classy.  Seriously I could see Audrey Hepburn wearing this, and that’s saying something.   If you’ve never owned something handmade from Greece, now’s your chance.  Click on over to Homelab and for $60 including shipping you can look like Audrey, kind of.
  8. A segment on scarves wouldn’t be complete with out a classic cashmere scarf, and lets face it sometimes depending on what your wearing-simple is best.  Yes Spencer and Marks is British, and so am I, glad you asked.   Don’t worry they ship most anywhere.

Last but not least I had to sneak one in for the kiddo’s.  Isn’t he cute, so cute I think I could name him!  But I will let your kids do that.  Let it Rain is the place to find him, if he’s sold out you could beg for a custom order.

Now a scarf is only Fabulous if you know how to work it, so here is a link to a video where Mireille Guiliano shows you how to wear scarves, she’s French, and French know how to wear scarves.  As she puts it, they are a french woman’s greatest accessory, and with the ones we’ve shown today…they can be yours too.

See you next week!

You must have searched high and low for these fabulously stylish scarves! That is the one good thing about fall and the cool layer, we get to layer and play with accessories! I’d love to hear some ideas on easy hairstyles for longer hair, especially simple up-dos.

Scarves are my best friends! I feel more confident when I wear them because they “hide” my saggy breasts and tummy roll! Love them. Thanks for sharing!

I need help with practical accesories that I can wear while being a mom. You know the kind that my 2 year old daughter won’t pull apart while holdring her, or the kind that doesn’t require a lot of personal attention on my part…just put it on and go.

Sadly I may be the gal in the room that people think “um, do you think she realizes how bad she looks?’ I do, people, I am just challenged. This segment could change my life:)

Love it. My daughter just taught me how to wear my scarf! As a person who is blind, love help and input from others. I love fashion and wearing fun, creative outfits even if I can’t see them! (cruisinwithcricket.blogspot.com)

A brilliant idea. I have always thought of scarves as something to keep warm, coming from a very cold climate. thanks
