Love In The Mail

by Destri on August 27, 2010

Have you ever sent packages like this?  The kind that brighten the day week of the lucky person you had in mind when preparing and sending it?  I have always had intentions to, but seem to have problems with the follow through.  But now I know the effect it can have on a person, I am so gonna start.

I was having just a regular pretty good day that got a little better because I was finally able to get my mail.  We lost our key to the new mailbox the first week we moved in, and I was rather looking forward to finally getting the bills that had been waiting for a week.  I open the door, relieved the key finally worked, and was anticipating a full box.  Front and center was a separate key.  It had the number to a bigger box below ours on it.  Ooo, now this is fun I thought.  So I open the other door and there sits a box.  Another package from grandma to the kids was my first thought, but then I saw a hint of my name.

Me?  I never get packages!  I am always signing off for little packages from UPS for my husband and always opening little trinkets that have been sent in the mail for my kids….but for me?  I literally drug my kids back to the house, no park right now kids….momma got a package!  I opened it to find the most thoughtful way anyone could ever send chocolate covered cinnamon bears.  Oh yes, you read that right – chocolate. covered. cinnamon. bears. They exist.  And they are so good.  And even better when tied up with pretty ribbon and accompanied by little notepads with my first initial on them, among other little treasures.

Totally made my day!  I felt special, I won’t lie to ya.  I set it on my table so that when people came over I could say “yep, someone sent all that to me”.  Now I am on a mission, a mission to make others feel a little special too.

As for you Ms. Dianna….oh just you wait and see.  I have plans for you.  Thank you not only for the thoughtful gift but for the reminder that a little love in the mail can transform a persons day.  I have all sorts of people on my mailing list and now thanks to you, their packages will be a little more thought out.

How about you dear friends, how long has it been since you had received a fun little package in the mail?  What was inside?!  I am all for ideas!

Usually the only packages I get in the mail are purchases from ebay or etsy which are still fun but can’t touch the unexpected little packages of love like the one I received the other day from a friend.

I have loved chocolate covered cinnamon bears ever since Candace introduced me to them! Now that is one of my favorite little treats!
I was just at BYU for a week long conference and I would buy a few little bears each day…yum.

I am so glad you liked it!
Next time I go to Sweet’s Candy Factory I just might have to pick you up some more chocolate covered cinnamon bears :)
