I looked at the calendar this morning, and am wondering where did September go? Now October is nearly half over with Halloween sneaking up around the corner, and I have yet to start a costume for my kids. You? Well, lucky for us a good friend and one of my favorites from my web, Ms. Anne Weil from Flax & Twine has us covered. She has an entire How-To series over on Craftsy (seriously, how am I the last to know about these great places) titled The Costume Box, and I was able to grab a sneak peak.
To say I was impressed would be an understatement. What a resource! I love how everything is broken down by project, each with its own step-by-step how-to video, course materials in pdf format for easy printing, and patterns/templates when needed. You even have the ability to ask Anne questions about the project or supplies used as you go along. The platform makes it perfect for the less the crafty, and the crafty pros alike, as you can skip to the parts you need.

The projects include crowns, capes, fairy wings, tulle skirts, wands and swords – all with variation options to give you endless possibilities. What I love most is that Anne uses a lot of things that you can find around the house, like wire hangers, and cardboard boxes, with the end result still looking better than anything you will buy at the store.

My son saw these photos, and said “Yes! I want to be a knight! And I want a sword..just like that!”, which is perfect because I have had plans to make him a knight costume simply for dress up. Poor guy has been limited to his sisters princess dresses, and daddy just isn’t to keen on that
.
Anne shows you how to make many variations, and notes when different materials can be used for a different look. For example, maybe you have a Harry Potter fan, or your little one is going to be Little Red Riding Hood. Really you could come up with dozens of characters for dress up.
The best part? Anne has offered all TMH readers a 50% discount, wahoo! That means you can snatch up the entire course for only $14.00, and your set to have the cutest kids in the neighborhood come Halloween, or any time the fancy a dress up.
Wouldn’t this be perfect for Holiday gifts too? I would like to say I am getting ahead of myself, but the way time is flying it will be here before we know it.
I hope everyone has a great start to the week, and I hope to be around a little later!

What an awesome class! Many moons ago I would have loved to participate!
Destri,
Thanks for the beautiful review. I’m so glad you enjoyed the course. Looking forward to see the knight costume you create for your son! Anne
