Halloween is such an exciting time for kids and adults alike! There is so much anticipation surrounding the decorations, costumes, and of course the candy.
Catch me after the jump to see how to make a cute spider decoration that is bound to help with some of the decoration anticipation!
How to Make a Pom-Pom Spider
- black yarn
- small square of cardboard
- black pipe cleaners
- goggly eyes
Wind the black yarn around the square of cardboard top to bottom until it is covered really well. On the 2 3/4 inch square, we used about 10 yards of string.
Then cut a long piece of black yarn and tie it around the middle of the yarn and cardboard. You want to tie it around tightly, but not knotted because you will want to tighten it after you take the cardboard out.
Next, take the scissors and cut the very top and bottom of the string on the cardboard.
Carefully slide the cardboard out, and then tighten and knot the middle string to make the pom-pom.
Cut two pipe cleaners in half and insert them through the middle of the spider making eight legs. You may have some pieces of yarn come out, but it’s not a big deal.
Before gluing on the eyes, trim the spider if needed so the pieces are fairly even. Then glue on the eyes and you’ve got a cute little pom-pom spider.
My daughter also insisted on a little pink bow for her spider. They turned out super cute!
I hope you have fun making these cute little pom-pom spiders!
