Sewing Projects & Weekend Ramblings

by Destri on June 26, 2010

I had to pop in today to at least say hi, and give you a few teases.

I have had one of those glorious Saturdays when the kids are either a) with their dad engaging in redneck behavior that we shall not discuss, or b) with their grandparents and can be heard over the phone laughing whilst running through the sprinklers.  Ahhh yes, one of those days.  The kind where you can sew all. day. long.

And even hit the fabric store without said children, thus allowing you to wander down every. single. isle.  Oh the deals I found, you just wait.

Even the guy at Taco Bell was super nice (don’t judge, I like there dilla’s), asking how my day went, to which I replied “Fabulous, thank you”

So now your wondering if I had all day to sew, where are all the tutorials?  Well, they are coming.  Pinky swear.  Here’s a sneak peak:

This is one for the guys, or the girls really.  It was my husbands Father’s Day present, and he liked it a lot.  So much in fact that he told me I had better not post the tutorial, because he was certain it would make us millions.  Silly boy.  It is pretty cool, but I don’t know about millions cool ;) .

And this one I am so stinkin’ excited about.  But see the problem with not having your kids around, is the fact that you lose your models.  So we’ll have to wait till I can get some pics of it on her.  So cute!

This one is part of my obsession with vintage hand embroidered pillowcases.  It is one of those projects that when you walk by you get all giddy.  Then you keep walking by it.  Over and over.

There was one that didn’t quite turn out the way I planned.  It went perfect in my head, but not so good in reality.  Oh well, you win some you lose some.  Maybe I will post it just so you can tell me where I went wrong :) .

Also, I love it when someone makes something from one of my tutorials and it turns out cuter than mine.  Especially when they use a pillowcase, so cute.  Thanks Lindsey for leaving me a link, you totally made my day!

One last thing before I let you go.  While I was at the fabric store I stalked the cutest girl with the cutest headband, on your behalf of course.  I like to think you’d have done the same for me.  Turns out she makes them, and they are only $5 dollars, sweet.  Here is her store!

Now I am off to do a little project you will get to see Monday, or maybe tomorrow.  We will see how it goes!

ps How was your Saturday?

I wish I had a day where I could sew all day long. My little boy loves the sewing machine so I can’t sew when he is awake.

Oh enjoy! But I have to warn you, I had a crook in my neck all the next day from all of the fun. Totally worth it!

This makes me even more sad that I don’t have a sewing machiene. Maybe I will start looking on Craigslist.
