What an wonderful reminder to us moms. Journal writing is like a long, tall drink of water to me! Couldn't do without that one!

Also...there's a little typo in your post title...might want to fix that! :)

Suzanne,
Great post. I love the thought of going to bed feeling more taken care of. I really could fit in some of these things each day. Especially if I traded the time I take eating junk food with writing in a journal or studying something I am interested in. Thanks for the reminder that ultimately only I can make myself take time for myself.

Thanks Karin for the comment, I bopped over to your blog and found it inspiring especially the photos. I would not have thought of sewing as relaxing so you must be very good at it and it comes second nature. I hardly sew but if my mind were to wander I would probably be sewing my finger.

Isn't wonderful to have something that takes you away like that and really help you puts things into persepctive. Being outside in nature has that affect on me especially the beach since I grew up so close to it. As a teenager I loved to just go there and stare at the water, listen to the sounds and ponder on whatever my mind wanted to.

Learning new things is hard for me sometimes because it takes patience and focus. I like most people want to do something new well but it takes practice especially when learning a new language or instrument.

I sew. For the children, my husband, the whole family and myself. While I pull the thread through the fabric, my mind wanders. I think about the things that trouble me, I relive certain events, recent and events from long before, I dream, I listen to music, I relax en process. To me, those little hours or even a few minutes now and then are like medicin for my mental, spiritual, emotional and even physical health.

With three little ones I don't find time for myself very often, so I have to make do with the little time I DO find. But this, to me, is the best way to spend it.

I also have to schedule these things in--I keep thinking it will become second nature, but not yet :) Also, I just wanted to add that in order to feel 100% I have to be healthy in all those areas. If one is lacking...they all suffer. Know what I mean?

Great and informative post--thanks!
