Have you been following along with this year’s season of Project Run and Play? It’s a friendly competition hosted by Liz and Elizabeth (love them!) of Simple and Co. featuring various sewing bloggers competing under a different theme each week. What I love most about the event is how it brings out the creative process that someone goes through when designing. Between picking the right colors and fabrics, to keeping the final shot in mind – it all ultimately determines the winner for the week. And they only have a week to pull it off! I have to say The Boy Week was pretty awesome and my favorite thus far (really, go take a look!) – each design was amazing.
A couple weeks ago they invited me to be a guest judge and it was so fun to be involved in the process. I judged on the White Sheet Challenge, and shared my thoughts on that here. I used to think that every week there was a clear winner – someone who just knocked it out of the park. But after having a chance to judge, and really looking at each individual entry, I learned that is definitely not the case. I don’t envy the judges!
Anyhoo, if you are into sewing on any level be sure to check out the event. You can even play along and submit your entries every week via their flickr page. They also have a weekly tutorial from the weeks winner, along with a weekly giveaway.
This is the last week of the challenge, Signature Style, and it always brings out the best in the designers I think. Tomorrow they will reveal the designs and you can vote on your favorite.
I’ll be back a little later with a sewing project of my own – stay tuned!
