The Bullet List {Stephanie Dulgarian}

by Destri on January 20, 2010

Have you met Stephanie?  Maybe her blog Somewhat Simple?  Well if you haven’t, let me introduce you.

One thing that stands out more than anything for me about Stephanie is that she isn’t afraid to put someone else in the spotlight.  She is always generously tooting everyone’s horn.  You’ll see her leaving comments, sharing projects and being an overall cheerleader for all of her readers.  She genuinely  enjoys seeing other peoples success, and loves to be a part of it.

A good example of this are her fun monthly challenges.  This month she has challenged her readers to take better care of themselves through a reward system and awards a weekly prize.  It will end with a final grand prize for the person who accumulates the most points.  To learn more about the “I am Feeling Fabulous” challenge scroll to the bottom of the home page and you will find all the details.

Now onto her list!

7 Things I Would Do IF My Husband Wouldn’t Freak Out!

  • Chop my hair. He likes long, so the unwritten keep-the-man-happy rule is my hair needs to touch my shoulders. Bleh. At least once a year I “trim” it just slightly above my shoulders to be adventurous! I already told him if anyone I know gets cancer and loses their hair, I am totally shaving my head with them! Heaven forbid this happens to a loved one, but at least I will get to see my hair in all different stages as it grows back, and then maybe my husband would find a cut he actually likes!
  • Eat Spaghetti. He hates it, so I never get to make it for dinner. I, on the other hand, LOVE it! In fact, we went out to dinner to Olive Garden last night and I was the schmuck that ordered the easy spaghetti. I always hate when people order restaurant food that you can make at home, but truth is I am never able to make it at home because of my husbands aversion to it and it just sounded so good!
  • Stay up late. I am a night owl that is “forced” to go to bed at 10 because my husband has to get up early each morning. Sometimes I go to bed with him, wait til he is asleep and then get back up- sneaky, I know! (is this what my life has come to?!)
  • Stay on the computer until I feel like getting off.  I could be on there for hours every day if I didn’t get my husband’s eyes rolling at me each time I said I needed to “check my email.”
  • Stay in my PJ’s all day. On those cold, lazy days when you have nothing to do, I would love to lounge in my pajamas until bedtime again! My husband gets home from work at 5:30, so a lot of times I have my 5pm mad dash to pick up the house and throw some clothes on before he gets home! Only my kids know the real truth about me!
  • See Oprah or Martha Stewart. We even vacationed to both Chicago and New York and both times I mentioned seeing a taping of their shows and I got the rolling eyes again. Someday I will be a guest on Martha Stewart and he will be begging me to take him to NY as my guest and I will roll my eyes at him!
  • Shop just a bit more. He is the most frugal man I know and I grew up very differently. I am learning to save money because of him, and that is great and all- I would just like an occasional shopping experience that was guilt-free!

I loved the pajama part…the next time I am changing into my clothes at 5pm to meet my husband at the door, I will find comfort knowing Stephanie is right there with me!

Alright ladies, Stephanie spilled the beans, now it’s your turn…

I would surprise him with a trip. Schedule it, pack him pick him up from work and drive straight to the airport. Wouldn’t that be so fun?!
I know it would totally stress him out not knowing, not leaving work prepared, so much so that he would not be able to have fun. Maybe one day….

I would get more pets! A couple of cats and another dog (we have 2 dogs), and maybe some turtles and frogs or lizards. My husband would completely freak out.

hmmmmm….well, since I live so close to NYC I have been really tempted to make an appointment with Nick Ar Rojo, the hair stylist on ‘what not to wear’.
I would love to see what Nick would do with my hair cut and color, but at the tune of $600, I think my hubby would maybe freak out a little.

Okay that was funny, I could relate to most of it in my earlier years of marriage, some I still do (the bed thing and on the computer) but I’m coming up on 20 years this July and I am what I am. Almost all men like long hair on women, it bugs me too that it matters whether my hair is long or short. I still feel quilty sometimes shopping because of all those lean years we’ve had but it’s just me not him, he really doesn’t care what I spend the money on as long as the bills are paid.

So for me I think would go sky diving or buy a large purchase like a car with out him maybe that would freak him out.

Umm…I would probably get us totally hooked up on Amazing Race. My husband would FLIP! He doesn’t eat weird food, hates to be dirty, doesn’t like heights…at all, and is super competitve (so he would be forced to do it all, because ya know we’d have to win). Yep, he would flip his lid for sure, so Amazing Race it is! Bwahahahahaha ;o)

I would pay some good money to see that! And yes, of course you would win….

Shasta-
My husband’s DREAM is to be on the AMAZING RACE! He has downloaded the application many times and we just cant think of any clever way of making a video, so we never actually apply! Maybe someday!

Love your list. Thanks for sharing. Made me laugh!

Especially the spaghetti thing– which happens to be one of my absolute favs, and I’m thinking there must be a whole’lotta schmucks out there like us, seeing as how that’s one part of their menu that never changes!

Nothing freaks my husband out. Nothing. When we first got together I thought to myself ‘yeah right…there’s no way this laid back business is going to last’– but it truly has. Even when I wrecked our car because I absentmindedly drove myself into a pole (don’t ask) and came home blitzed and bawling, he stayed cool as a cucumber.

It’s odd and amazing all at once.
