Great post! My husband and I recently started blogging about our date nights - you can read about them here : http://www.neveradulldate.com/

So far, it's been amazing! We're gotten so much closer, we have more to talk about, and something to look forward to when we have a tough week at work.

One of our favourite at home dates has been to theme dinner and a movie. Recently we tried Italian night. I made cannelloni, picked up some gelato and rented The Godfather. It's a fun twist on a classic at home date.

Thanks for the list. I love the idea about turning the story of how you met into a children's book!

When our son was a baby, my husband and I waited until he was asleep, then we all got in the truck and drove up to the top of a mountain (a small one) and watched the Perseid meteor shower laying on pillows and blankets in the truck bed while the baby slept in the cab. So romantic!

My idea is an expanded game of the First Words game. (This is also a good activity for long car trips, by the way). It is called Association. Someone starts with a random word, the next person to take a turn says what the first word made them immediately think of, the next turn goes off of the last word.
Okay, this is hard to explain. Let me just give an example. First word: "Sky"
Second person says, "Sky makes me think of clouds." The next person to go says "Clouds make me think of Snow." And you just go on associating from there. The best part of this game is if a word or association requires some explaining, so the other person gets the connection made from one word to another. It is also fun when the word brings up a story or family memory you can recall and laugh over. When we play the game, we have a hard time getting through more than 8 or 9 words before someone thinks of an anecdote to share. Soon we find ourselves laughing. Good moments. And all from a randomly chosen word like 'sky.' Enjoy!

This is a great idea, we did this ages ago but I'd forgotten how nice and relaxing it was. Thanks for reminding me, it's on our list now.
