Girls in white dresses….I can’t get enough of them! Add a little heart cutout on the back and oh the cuteness. Shannon from luvinthemommyhood asked me to be a part of a little blog tour for her Sweetheart Dress Pattern, and since it’s Valentine’s Day and all, how could I say no? She also is going to give a lucky TMH reader a free pattern in a giveaway!
See, a heart! I added the band of fabric around the bottom, and the sash (tutorial here) for a little pop of color and I love how it turned out. My little one is pretty much in love. She told me it is her wedding dress and she was going to marry her brother in it – I told her I’d hold her to it :), well the dress part anyway.
Catch me after the jump for details on the pattern and the giveaway!

So first, let’s start with why I love the pattern:
- it’s comes in a PDF file for download, so you get instant gratification
- the bodice pattern prints on one page so no taping needed
- it’s very detailed with step by step instructions and photos
- I learned a few new techniques
Now let’s talk about why I love the dress:
- I did mention the heart, right?
- it’s very versatile
- the bodice is lined with no exposed seams
- it has just the right amount of gathering in the skirt
- my little one wakes up and grabs it first thing to put on

As for sewing, I would say an adventurous beginner could tackle this easily. There are no button holes or zippers to deal with, the bodice comes together easily, and no serger is necessary. I had the dress sewn in about two hours, so it could even be a naptime project! It comes in sizes 2T-6T.

As for my girl. Sheesh, she’s getting so big. She doesn’t have that toddler look anymore. Dang it. She is getting all sorts of full of herself and I just love it. I was trying to get a good picture of the dress and I kept getting all those silly faces. She thinks she’s hilarious. I finally had to bribe her with my salted dark chocolates. I start ‘em on the good stuff :).
So, who wants to win a pattern? Just tell me in the comments whether you are a dark chocolate lover, or a milk chocolate lover – if you don’t like chocolate just tell me how cute you think my baby girl is :) – flattery will get you somewhere, right?
Only one entry per person, giveaway closes Sunday February 10th at 12am MST, giveaway winner will be chosen by random.org and notified by email.
Good luck!

I LOVE this dress pattern and your daughter is adorable. I learned how to sew only so I could make my daughter cute dresses. I have also been known to color copy the fabric to make papers for her scrapbooks so the cute dresses live on after she has outgrown them. Thanks!!
